Black & Ginger Wines and The Art Gallery of Ballarat

Welcome to the wines of Black & Ginger, we’re proud to be the exclusive wine partner of the Art Gallery of Ballarat, pouring a selection of small-batch wines crafted in Victoria’s Grampians region. Winemaker Hadyn Black focuses on alternative varieties and expressive styles designed to be enjoyed with good company, great conversation and a little creativity.

ANASTASIA CUVÉE

Elegant and celebratory, Anastasia Cuvée brings together Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to create a lively sparkling wine with fine bubbles, citrus brightness and subtle notes of apple and brioche.

The wine honours three remarkable women connected to Ballarat’s past — Anne Duke, Anastasia Hayes and Anastasia Withers — who were associated with the sewing of the famous Eureka flag during the Eureka Stockade in 1854. Later, Anastasia Withers and her husband established the Bristol Orchard in nearby Moyston, just down the road from our vineyard.

LUCY’S ROSÉ

Bright, fresh and effortlessly drinkable, Lucy’s Rosé is all about vibrancy and charm. Expect lifted aromas of strawberry, watermelon and soft floral notes, followed by a crisp, dry finish. Light, refreshing and perfectly suited to an evening of art and conversation. Made primarily from certified organic shiraz grown at Hounds Run Vineyard with a cheeky splash of Gewürztraminer from Henty and named in honour of Hadyn’s wife Lucy, this Rosé is a testament to love and persistence, as Lucy’s continual request for a Rosé inspired its creation.

PERSEPHONE

Our house red blend of three Italian varieties Nero d’Avola, Aglianico and Nero di Troia. Juicy dark fruit, spice and a savoury edge make it smooth, generous and incredibly versatile.

Named after the Greek goddess of spring, Persephone, she’s got a green thumb, just like her mum, Demeter. She reigns over the realm of agriculture, earning her the title of the Goddess of Vegetation — she’s all about that farm life, overseeing everything from veggies to vines.

ABOUT BLACK & GINGER WINES

Black & Ginger Wines was founded by winemaker Hadyn Black and entrepreneur Darcy “Ginger” Naunton with a simple goal: make interesting wines for interesting people.

Based in Victoria’s Grampians region, we focus on small-batch wines, alternative varieties and playful storytelling. Many wines are named after important women, personal connections, fictional and historically significant, creating a collection that is personal, characterful and a little unconventional.
