The Black & Ginger Wine Shed is a laid-back, eclectic hideaway for wine lovers and wanderers alike. Located next door to Barney’s Bar & Bistro in Pomonal, it’s a space where vintage charm meets a relaxed country vibe — and there’s a cosy corner (and a cracking wine) waiting for you.
Pull up a chair for a wine tasting, sink into a comfy lounge with a book, or challenge your mates to a board game over a glass of small-batch vino. When the sun’s out, head outdoors — the perfect spot to sip, snack and soak up the Grampians.
Whether you’re a local looking for a new favourite hangout or a Grampians traveller after something a little different, the Wine Shed is all about great wine, local beer, good company and good times.
We offer a small, curated range of tasting experiences — relaxed, flexible and genuinely enjoyable. Everything we do is about exploration, conversation and making wine feel approachable, whether you’re popping in for a tasting or settling in for a special event.
Dogs are always welcome — inside (when food is not being served) and outside all year round. Well-behaved children are welcome; poorly behaved kids are not encouraged.

POUR SIP & ENJOY!
What it is?
Sip Your Way is Black & Ginger’s introductory tasting experience, giving you the freedom to choose three or six wines and explore them at your own pace.
Who it’s for?
Perfect for first-time visitors, curious wine drinkers, couples, and small groups who want flexibility rather than a scripted tasting.
What’s included?
Your chosen wines are served as 100ml pours in individual mini decanters, designed to share.

Flexible — enjoy at your own pace.
Why it’s different?
There’s no pressure. Sip Your Way is about discovery, conversation, and finding the wines you love, your way. You get to pick the wines, or we can help guide you.

Jam & Juice
SIP, LISTEN, VIBE!
What it is?
Jam & Juice is Black & Ginger’s signature wine tasting experience. Jam & Juice is a wine and music pairing experience that brings sound and flavour together in a playful, immersive way.
Who it’s for?
Ideal for music lovers, creative thinkers, and anyone looking for a tasting experience that’s a little left of centre.
What’s included?
Choose four wines, 50ml pours, each paired with curated playlists accessed via QR code or if you enjoy a tactile experience, with one of our discmans. Headphones are provided so you can fully sink into the experience.
Duration?
Approximately 45–60 minutes.
Why it’s different?
Jam & Juice adds an emotional and sensory layer to wine tasting, inviting you to experience flavour through mood, rhythm, and sound.

EVENTS IN OUR HOOD & YOURS!
What it is?
In addition to tastings, Black & Ginger hosts a rotating program of events at the Wine Shed, along with select offsite collaborations and festival appearances.
Who it’s for?
Great for locals, visitors, and groups who enjoy wine as part of a shared experience.
What’s included?
Events vary and may include themed tastings, wine dinners, creative workshops, and community-focused gatherings. Boardgames, Karaoke, and knitting afternoons are all regular features on our calendar.

Event-dependent.

Events are designed to feel welcoming, relaxed, and rooted in place — with wine as the connector, not the centre of attention.
What is the cost?
The cost varies depending on the type of event and what is included. Events range from $15pp-$200pp and always include a glass of wine.

Yes. Black & Ginger Wines is proudly dog-friendly, welcoming well-behaved dogs on a lead both outdoors and indoors (when food is not being served). We have a few dog beds available for guest use so your four-legged friend can settle in while you sip.
Bookings are preferred, especially on long weekends and peak visitation periods, however walk-ins are always welcome when space allows. Bookings can be made via our reservations page.
Please note: the Sip Your Way tasting experience is designed to share — one booking covers a flight of wines for the table, not per person. If you’re unsure how many tastings to book, get in touch and we’ll help.
Yes. The Black & Ginger Wine Shed is located within the same building as Barney’s Bar & Bistro, whose full menu is available to enjoy at the Wine Shed during lunch service, Friday to Sunday 12–2pm. Snacks are available in-house at all times. BYO picnics are also welcome — the Pomonal General Store stocks a delicious range of regional cheeses, dips and crackers.
Yes. The Black & Ginger Wine Shed welcomes small and large groups. Bookings are essential for groups of 8 or more — please email us at wineshed@blackandginger.com.au to arrange. The Wine Shed is also available for private functions after hours.
